Great Forgotten Garden Party

Atlas Obscura hosts an annual garden party on the expansive grounds of Untermyer Gardens just north of New York City, a quick Metro North ride away. I admired the people as they dressed in their best fancies and sauntered around the gardens, with performances and wonders hidden throughout.

The culmination of the evening was with a sunset ritual, where robed women led everyone down to an outlook over the Hudson River around a fire, as the sun slowly set behind the mountains. With performances happening throughout the gardens, it was impossible to see everything, but whatever your view, it was quite stunning.
