Lost Bridge Exchange
This past weekend I participated in and partially photographed the Lost Bridge Exchange, where artists create interactive experiences inside of box trucks and showcase them in late night guerilla pop-up exhibitions, with artists collaborating between New York and Philadelphia. Philly's night market happened two weeks ago, which sent some of NY's art trucks to Philly, and past weekend vice versa.
The truck I worked on was The Devil's Nachoria, serving each topping of your nachos in a Rube Goldbergian fashion, or with the assistance of "Mother," while in Hell. Don't ask, but it made sense as you made your way through.
Earlier this year I partook in the New York-only version of this event, the Lost Horizon Night Market, where we recreated the Price Is Right with a working showcase showdown wheel, Plinko, and a price matching game. You can see how varied the themes are for each truck.
Up until the past year and a half or so, I'd only been part of the audience, not one of the artists. I would often photograph these events, but not create something to be photographed. I have started to change my role and give back by being part of events I have thoroughly enjoyed in the past. I'm glad I've gotten to know some of the people I'd recognize at each event and be able to work with them in such a fun and unique setting. The only downside, however, is that much of the time I'm unable to photograph the rest of the event because I have to help run my contribution to it. I was able to break away from our truck for a bit and photograph some of the other trucks, but sadly did not have time to get to them all, or even get to photograph our own! Here is a small selection from the Lost Bridge Exchange in Brooklyn.
